Many times we go through life asking ourselves questions such as "Why did God do that?"
Why did God create the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil if He knew Adam and Eve would eat it and sin anyways? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do I not have this or that...why, why, why?
These are great questions and when looking to dive deeper into our relationship with Christ...but our answer may not come to complete comfort for us all. Reason: not ALL of these are completely explainable...there are some things we just don't know answers to and we are not going to know.
Put it in this perspective though...In regards to the event of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit...God created us to have a relationship with Him (Genesis 1:27 says we are "created in His image..."). The reason we have breath, are living, are here is to have a relationship with God the Father. So, when God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden we see them almost immediately wrecking this relationship between God the Father and mankind.
Punishment came from eating of the tree...they ate the forbidden fruit (doesn't say it was an apple). Both are equally to blame, they each played their part. Although God created man to lead Adam became passive and didn't react to his wife eating the fruit...instead he joined in! What the heck dude?! In turn Adam is now cursed with the land having thorns etc. wrecking his crops and Eve, she has to bear the pangs of childbirth...ouch! (P.S.-glad I'm a guy! lol).
So what does all this have to do with us anyway...why does it matter? Here's the focus...God knows what we will do, when we will do it, why we do it although we may not even be able to explain it ourselves...but the key is this: God created us to have a relationship with Him. Eternal life is about loving God with all we have leaving the old life for the new life. There will be some unexplainable tragedies happen and so what we should do is be so in love with God the Father and who He is that we are the stability someone hurting turns to...we are the peace of mind for a wrecked life of a friend...we are love for the unloved of this earth.
No matter why things happen...we are to love God even if they are unexplainable. God is sovereign (He is in control). Do you trust Him with that? Meditate on this, think about who God is and what the Bible says about Him...Why did God create us even though he knew we would sin? He wants a relationship with us...this is why He sent His only Son, Jesus, so that our sin could be forgiven and we could experience a deep relationship with our Father!
